Jovenes, Inc. is a Boyle Heights based non-profit agency that welcomes 18-25 year old homeless, at-risk youth off the streets and puts them on a path toward personal growth and success. Founded in 1992 by Father Richard Estrada, Jovenes, Inc. provides stable housing, skills training and employment support designed to transform high-risk youth into productive, responsible members of the community. Jovenes, Inc. is a hands-on leader and innovator focused on permanent solutions to end the cycle of homelessness and despair. The agency continues to grow through new construction and renovation of existing housing in the neighborhoods it serves.

Each year, Jovenes, Inc. (Youth, Inc.) seeks for opportunities to celebrate our youth, heritage, and future. We want to bring our community together, highlight progress that is being made, and work to end youth homelessness on the streets of Los Angeles.

The 2013 LA Taco Festival is one of these chances. Held in the heart of Boyle Heights, the festival will bring together community stake-holders of all kinds; youth musicians and professional artists, community based organizations, food vendors, businesses and Angelinos of all kinds. We are planning the LA Taco Festival to be an even bigger and more successful than last year’s event by showcasing more artistic talents and by bringing in the tastiest taco vendors that Boyle Heights and East LA have to offer! We anticipate thousands of people to attend this free community event.

Jovenes also operates The Beacon Network (www.tbnconnect.org) a bi-lingual,
youth-focused website offering over 250 community-based services.
